What is an SBA Loan?

In 1953, the Small Business Act was passed, which established the SBA. SBA loans are designed to assist small business with their financing needs including starting a new business, expanding an existing one, or recovering from a disaster.   SBA loans are offered by private lenders and partially guaranteed by the U.S. Government. Advantages of an SBA loan include low interest rates, access to quick capital, longer repayment terms, flexibility, and more.

Business Qualifications include:

  • For profit businesses only

  • Demonstrated need for the loan and ability to repay

  • Must meet the SBA definition of a small business

  • Minimum equity injection/down payment of 10%
